Medical Student Diversity Scholarship Awards

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is thrilled to offer up to $1,500 to qualifying fourth year medical students. This scholarship opportunity is to help offset the costs of travel and housing for those who apply to do a visiting dermatology rotation. There are 2 scholarship awards available for a rotation at the University of Cincinnati and 2 scholarship awards available for a rotation at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. These scholarships are available for rotations in July through October 2025

Selected students for the University of Cincinnati rotation will complete a 4-week dermatology clerkship that includes exposure to our resident clinics, resident didactics, faculty clinics as well as exposure to dermatopathology and dermatologic surgery. Students will be expected to give one formal presentation at the end of the rotation.

Selected students for the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital rotation will complete a 4-week dermatology clerkship that focuses on the breadth and depth of pediatric dermatology. Both rotations will be a hands-on and immersive experience into our department.

Eligibility

Qualifying medicals students include those whose backgrounds, interests or goals help bring a unique and diverse experience to our department. Preference will be given to those applicants who plan to pursue a career in Dermatology. Below are criteria for students who would qualify for these scholarships.

• Individual whose race or ethnicity is underrepresented in the medical profession.
• Individual who is the first in their family to attend college and medical school.
• Individual who has faced substantial economic or educational obstacles.
• Individual who identifies with a disability.
• Individual who grew up in a rural community.

Requirements

1. Must be a fourth-year student in an accredited medical or osteopathic school in the United States at the time of the rotation.

5. Personal statement detailing your interest in the program and why you qualify for this program.
6. Must have passed USMLE Step 1
7. USMLE Step 2 score report if available
8. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY APRIL 1^ST.
