Established in 1947, the University of Cincinnati offers the oldest continuously operating occupational medicine residency in the U.S.

  • UC OEM Residency has 78 years of experience successfully preparing over 250 board-eligible occupational and environmental medicine physicians.​
  • Our program is an ACGME-accredited, two years training program for physicians committed to excellence in education, guided by the core competencies and milestone-based progression. ​
  • Resident performance is evaluated by multiple faculty and clinical preceptors, ensuring comprehensive, balanced assessments and regular constructive feedback to foster continuous professional growth.

The UC OEM Residency empowers you to make a lasting impact through rigorous, and protect worker health, prevent occupational disease, and address environmental challenges at the workplace.

  • Academia, Research, Policy & Advocacy​: Master of Public Health graduation, drive innovation through research, influence public health policy, and lead efforts to create safer, healthier work environments.​
  • Clinical Practice in OEM Settings​: Build hands-on expertise in diverse clinical environments—Employee Health & Wellness, TriHealth, Addiction Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and CCHMC.​
  • Community Outreach & Emergency Response​: Lead responses to environmental disasters, chemical exposures, and public health emergencies. Make a difference on the ground when it matters most.​
