Medical Sciences Summer Institute

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine offers summer workshops for rising high school juniors and seniors who are interested in careers in medicine or other related healthcare related fields, and who wish to gain experience in biomedical research in a state-of-the-art environment.

Two virtual MSSI Information Sessions are planned for December 2025 and February 2026. Stay tuned for confirmed dates and details.

The Medical Sciences Summer Institute will run five individual week-long (full-day) sessions in 2026.

Session Options:

Session 1: June 1-5, 2026 Cellular

Session 2: June 8-12, 2026 Cellular

Session 3: June 8-12, 2026 Medical Informatics

Session 4: June 15-19, 2026 Molecular

Session 5: June 22-26, 2026 Molecular

Upon applying, students will rank their preference for the week they hope to attend. 

  • The program will run from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM each weekday.
  • The cost of the program is $1100.

To Apply:

The application requires the following:

  • 1-page synopsis of your academic history and leadership/extracurriculars (like a resume)
  • 1-page personal statement addressing:
    1. why you feel this program will benefit you and
    2. any background/prior related experience that would make you a good fit for this program.

Previous research experience is not a requirement.

The application will also require:
  • Your current high school GPA
  • Date of birth
  • Name of high school
  • Class graduation year (i.e. 2028 for current juniors and 2027 for current sophomores). All applicants must be 16 years old by August 1, 2026.
  • Selection of preferred track and session

A limited number of scholarships and financial aid awards are available. Eligibility is determined during the application process and may vary based on the criteria submitted at the time of application.
