Who should apply?

Due to the uncertainty of funding for the 2025-2026 academic year, we have decided to pause the interview and admissions process until we have received funding confirmation from the National Institute of Health (NIH). Our hope is to have an update for all applicants who completed an application by May. This timeline also means that, if the NIH funds are ultimately approved, the 2025-2026 class of Scholars would participate in an abbreviated program that would likely run from September 2025 to late May 2026.

You are an ideal candidate for PREP@UC if:

  • Your near future goal is to obtain a Ph.D. degree in the biomedical sciences
  • Your participation in PREP@UC would broaden participation in the biomedical sciences
  • You have obtained your bachelor's degree in a biomedically relevant subject within the last 36 months
  • You have a GPA of 3.2 or better (out of 4). Lower GPAs will be considered if there are extenuating circumstances
  • You are a US citizen or a permanent resident/green card holder
