Neurosurgery Student Shadowing

The Neurosurgery Student Shadowing program at the University of Cincinnati Department of Neurosurgery provides undergraduate and medical students with the opportunity to explore the specialty of neurosurgery.

Participants have the opportunity to choose between the following two experiences:

Inpatient Service Shadowing

• Students shadow Neurosurgery resident team at UCMC
• Begins at 5:40 am and is limited to one day of shadowing, lasting 8 hours or less.

Outpatient Setting Shadowing

• Students shadow an attending physician or advanced practice provider (PA/NP) in the outpatient clinic.
• Limited to one day, lasting 4 hours or less.

Shadowing may take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday.

• One letter of recommendation from teacher/instructor/mentor
• A copy of current immunizations including: TB, COVID, and flu
• A copy of drivers license
