Based on the DOT curriculum objectives, this is a practical easy-to-understand system for 12-Lead ECG interpretation and assessment. There will be a  focus on the "need to know" information, with a large number of practice cases, providing a solid background and extensive hands-on practice. This will help to build confidence and competence quickly.

48 Hr. Paramedic Refresher Course

The 48 hour Paramedic Refresher class follows the Ohio EMS Board’s Approved Paramedic Refresher Training Program Curriculum. Completion of this course also meets the National Registry of EMTs requirements for transition from “EMT-Paramedic” to “Paramedic”. Topics covered include: airway and ventilation management, cardiac emergencies, general medical emergencies, trauma, OB/GYN, geriatrics, pediatrics, and EMS operations. The course combines, didactic sessions, medical and trauma case reviews, practical skills evaluations, and a written evaluation to give the Paramedic a review of the most current pre-hospital care guidelines and practices.

The Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course promotes critical thinking as the foundation for quality care and stresses treatment of multi-system trauma in the field, which may require an approach that varies from traditional treatment modalities. The program is built on the belief that armed with a solid base of critical knowledge and principals of care, EMS practitioners and other Prehospital emergency care providers are fully able to make sound decisions regarding patient care.

Stressing that it’s critical to deliver the patient 1) to the right facility 2) using the right mode of transport 3) in the right amount of time and 4) as safely as possible, the curriculum covers the following in-depth: Assessment / Secondary Survey – Reassessment / Team Approach / Communication / Potential Pitfalls / Airway / Breathing – Ventilation – Oxygenation / Circulation, Hemorrhage Control and Shock / Central Nervous System Trauma: Injuries to the Brain and Spinal Cord / Special Considerations.

TCCC emphasizes three primary goals: 1. Treat the casualty; 2. Prevent additional casualties; 3.
