Pharmacology Professional Development Endowment Fund

"The Pharmacology Professional Development Award allowed me to attend the American Heart Association Basic Cardiovascular Sciences Scientific Sessions 2025, one of the premier international meetings focused on fundamental and translational cardiovascular research. At the conference, I had the opportunity to present my research and receive valuable feedback from leading investigators in the field. I also expanded my professional network by connecting with potential future collaborators. In addition, the lectures and discussions were highly engaging, deepening my understanding of heart failure, sarcomere regulation, and cardiovascular biology as a whole." - Olukunie Akinborewa, P&P PhD student and 2025 Pharmacology PDE Fund recipient, 3rd from the right in top row in photo above.

The Pharmacology Professional Development Endowment Fund (S400043) benefits students pursuing MS or PhD degrees in the Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neurobiology department, as well as our outstanding educational faculty and staff. Awards from this fund introduce the recipients to research opportunities far beyond our local program. This fund supports travel, registration, and housing related to presentation of research discoveries, educational programs, and acquisition of new technical skills for MS and PhD students doing pharmacological research.

A faculty committee accepts applications for the Pharmacology Professional Development Fund award in February for Spring meetings and in August for Fall Meetings. Contact Dr. Yvonne Ulrich-Lai for more information.
