Daniel Kline Scholarship Fund

Dr. Daniel Kline was the chair of the Physiology Department (predecessor of the current Pharmacology and Systems Physiology Department) from 1966 to 1983.

His family created the Daniel Kline Scholarship Fund to benefit students pursuing MS or PhD degrees in the department, as well as educational faculty and staff. This fund supports travel, registration, and housing related to presentation of research discoveries, educational programs, and acquisition of new technical skills in physiology.

A faculty committee accepts applications for the Daniel Kline Scholarship Fund award in February for Spring meetings and in August for Fall Meetings.

Contact Dr. Yvonne Ulrich-Lai for more information.

"The Kline Award generously provided the financial support necessary for me to attend the Society for Neuro-Oncology Pediatric Conference (SNO PEDS) in May. This experience offered invaluable opportunities to engage with cutting-edge research directly aligned with my project, explore emerging technologies pertinent to my work, and participate in several valuable networking sessions. I am deeply grateful to have been selected for this award and for the enriching experience it afforded me." - Luis Tron Esqueda, P&P Graduate Student and 2025 Kline Award Recipient (on the left in photo above)

"I was privileged to attend the 14th International Bone Morphogenetic Protein Conference in May due to the Kline Physiology Award. This was an amazing opportunity as a first-year student, allowing me to be exposed to new advancements in the field, introduce myself to our collaborators, and present my research. I greatly appreciate that I was able to attend this conference and I’m especially thankful to the Kline family for providing me with the financial support." - Valerie Plesha, P&P Graduate Student and 2025 Kline Award Recipient
