Thank you for your interest in University of Cincinnati’s Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship program! We are excited that you are interested in our program and look forward to helping you become a well-rounded addiction psychiatrist and leader in the field.
About us:
The UC Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship is committed to training the next generation of addictionologists who will play a vital role in preventing and treating substance use disorders and behavioral addictions. Our fellowship is ACGME-accredited and prepares the candidate for added qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
What Sets Us Apart:
- Diverse clinical experiences: The fellowship experience is divided between rotations in a nationally recognized VA, UC Health, and various community clinics. Rotations offer training at all levels of care including inpatient addiction consults, medically supervised withdrawal, residential treatment, opioid treatment program (OTP), dual diagnosis clinic, and outpatient clinics and offer opportunities for working with specialized populations. Formal addiction-specific psychotherapy training is provided including CBT, motivational interviewing, contingency management, and return to use prevention.
- Mentorship, collaboration, and community engagement: The fellowship faculty are comprised of addiction specialists from multiple disciplines, dedicated to high quality, evidence-based patient care, teaching and scholarly activity. Collaborating with addiction medicine colleagues enriches the learning environment. There are opportunities for community engagement to participate in outreach programs and engage in efforts to advocate for prevention and treatment of addictions.
- Research Opportunities: Various research opportunities exist with multiple faculty, through the renowned Center for Addiction Research at UC. Active research protocols include both behavioral and pharmacotherapy research trials as well as quality improvement projects with highly regarded research faculty.
