Dr Wang, Principal Investigator, developed and implemented meaningful curriculum enhancements in the area of intellectual and developmental disabilities in multiple courses across various levels of training at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (February 2020-July 2021). Specific enhancements include the following: Designed and implemented a virtual clinical skills experience for second year students with individuals with Down Syndrome. Also developed a learning community case for second year students featuring a patient with autism and intellectual disability. The learning community session was co-facilitated by parents of individuals with IDD. The clinical skills experience and learning community cases were the first of their kind to feature an individual with IDD at UCCOM.
Dr Wang and Dr Keeton received a MedTAPP grant in July 2021 to create a virtual simulation to train physicians in caring for individuals with IDD and being attentive to the social determinants of health unique to this population.
